WELCOME PARENTS AND STUDENTS!

We have had an exciting year in G.A.T.E. so far! I can't wait to share some of the interesting things we've been learning over the past few weeks, but first let me discuss our new blog...

I will be posting in this blog periodically to display the creativity and ingenuity of our Gifted and Talented students. I hope to share our learning with you a little each month. They can't wait to share all their hard work and learning with you!

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about many different things, including:

*Viewpoints - What is a viewpoint? How are viewpoints different? How are animal viewpoints different from our own? Debono's Six Thinking Hats

*Logic - Deductive Reasoning, Finding common characteristics

*Bibliotherapy - "Gifted Kids Survival Guide"; What does it mean to be gifted?

*Exploratory - Roller Coaster Physics: Force/motion, gravity, friction, Newton's three laws of motion, Potential and Kinetic Energy

Here are some shots of great minds at work!  Enjoy!!

We've been watching Black Beauty to gain a perspective of the viewpoints of animals.  The students have been analyzing Black Beauty's viewpoint using The Six Thinking Hats.  They are now using their new perspective to plan and complete a project that will deepen their own and others' understanding of animal welfare.

These kiddos are designing their own experiments to demonstrate Newton's 1st Law: Inertia!

We created Balloon Rockets to demonstrate Newton's 3rd Law: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction!

Students experimented to test the effect the height of a ramp had on the potential and kinetic energy of a toy car!
